Chapter 1: Crest Protector
Kari krept down the narrow stairs of the manor. Had the sound of swords clashing been only her imagination? Her ears strained as tension seeped its way into her shallow breathing. Clang! There it was agian!! But who would break into Destined House?Kari wondered, fear now apperant.
Few steps below the brown haired girl, a ravened-haired girl and a shadowy man did their best to disarm the other of their sword.
"Leave this house,"she commanded to the man, Sword of Bellfan glowing true in her hand.
"Ha! The DigiDestined are mine to destroy. My right!!"he laughed her off,"A little girl like you should run home."
The man had been trying to make her angry, for in anger, mistakes were made. But his attempt was lost on the green-eyed girl who knew that striking from fury would lead to her demise.
"And it's by mine that I protect them!!"she retorted,"And it should be you running, you don't even know how to gripp that sword properly."
That did it. His eye's bulged and in a cry of rage, he struck with all his might. Sparks from the force of the blow flew. But the girl was neither afriad nor fazed. She did, however, dropp her sword.
"Spiraling Flames,"she whispered, holding her hands to the heavens.
A spiral of flames flew and the enraged man. Terror gripped him.
"NOBODY EVER TOLD ME SHE HAD ATTACKS!!"he roared into a mirror, fleeing to the door.
"I didn't KNOW!"a tiny voice replied.
"Don't tripp on the way out,"she called after him with a satisatied feeling.
Kari whimpered, catching the strange girl's attention. She turned and Kari got a good look at the one who had protected the Destined House from the man. But what drew her most were the girl's green eyes. Strenght and detirmination shown from them.
"I'm sorry about that,"she told Kari, bending to pick up the silver sword.
"Who are you?"Kari asked, tucking a lock of hair behind her ear,"And why do you have a right to protect us?"
"I am Areil Morrisan, a Crest Protector,"she told her, sliding the sword into her belt,"Why? Because you have the Crests I protect, therefore I am charged to protect you."
"I'm Ka-"she began, but Areil cut her off.
"I know who you are. You're Kari Light, as you now call yourself, or as you used to be called, Kari Kamiyai."she stated.
Kari suddenly stood, hearing her old name was too much. Pain ripped through her all over agian at the cruel knowlegde that none of them, the DigiDestined, could go back.
"My brother Tai will kick your -"her voice grated, struggling to keep under control.
Agian, Areil interupted her.
"Taichi Courage can do nothing to me,"she said flatly,"I buried my pain long ago. I can feel no more."
"What can't I do?"a sleepy voice asked from behind Kari.
"Tai!"she gasped, whirling.
Her brother saw her pain, confusion swept over Tai. Ever since they'd all excepted that they'd never go back, he had stopped seeing that pain in her.
"What's the matter?!"he demanded, sweeping a look over Areil,"What did you do, whoever you are?!"
"I did nothing,"Areil snapped stubbornly,"The fact that I know your real names is no crime, Taichi."
Tai's eyes bulged. This stranger knew their real names?! That was impossible, the only ones in the Digital World that knew their real names were themselves, their digimon, and Gennia.
"Who the hell are you?"he roared, hoping to scare her off.
Areil was made of stronger stuff. She drew herself to her full height.
"I am Areil Morrisan. I am the Crest Protector of Courage, Friendship, Love, Sincerity, Light, Hope, Knowledge, Reliabity and Spirit,"she said calmly.
"There's more crest's than our owns?"they chorused.
"Yes, many more. There are six more Crest Protectors scattered around the Digital World, and each of them has at least 6 Crest to protect,"Areil rattled off in an unconcerned way.
"Why was that man here?"Kari asked, her pain wearing off.
"To destroy you, what else?"she replied grimly.
To Be Countinued . . .
*rereads* Wow, that sucked.
