Season 4, Episode 38: "It Can't Be! Lucemon Reappears"

Rika: Just when they thought they had beaten that RAT, Cherubimon, the guys realized that the worst was yet to come! Takuya and Koji unified the spirits and evolved for the final battle. Unfortunately Cherubimon has been compressing all the data he'd colleceted into a little glowing orb that he shoved into his forehead, making him the most powerful digimon ever! As EmperorGreymon and MagnaGarurumon, along with the spiritual support of the entire digi-gang, Takky and Koji eventually vanquished the vicious villain! But they unleashed a whole new horror in the process.
[Theme song, the episode opens showing the kids, Patamon, Bokomon, and Neemon on the cliff's edge. The Digital World is still as black as night, and the Rose Morning Star glows brightly overhead a short distance away]
Bokomon: Huzzah! Huzzah! [tears of joy are streaming down his face]
Patamon: Oh boy!
Neemon: Yeah! [laughs]
[All three hold hands and begin dancing for joy, during which they babble and cheer unintelligibly]
Tommy: It feels like a dream...
Takuya: [pats Tommy on the shoulder] Well wake up, buddy, 'cause we did it! Cherubimon's gone, and the Digital World is safe again!
Tommy: Yeah!
Koji (frowningly): That's strange...
Kouichi: What is, Koji?
Koji: [frowns angrily while looking at the Digital World. The part they are in looks like a ruin of blue canyons] The land that was lost should have come back by now. But the Digital World's surface still looks damaged!
[The 3 digimon stop dancing]
Bokomon: What--!
Neemon and Patamon: Wha??
Takuya: Hey, you're right. This doesn't make sense! When the data was restored, the land should have been restored with it!
[Mountains in the distance warp and begin to sink, and though their data was being absorbed...]
Takuya: I don't believe it!
Tommy: That doesn't look good...!
[Bokomon climbs fearfully on Takuya's back, and Neemon does the same to Tommy]
Bokomon: Oh dear, what now?!
Neemon: Huh?!
[Mountains sink completely]
Takuya: The mountains just--disappeared!!
[This creates a disturbance. Wind, smoke, and dust blasts towards and over the group. They let out a cry and do their best to shield their faces as it rages around them like a windstorm, gusting at their clothes and hair]
Kouichi: What's happening?!
Takuya: Their data got scanned!
Zoe: Could Cherubimon still be alive?
JP: He can't be!
Takuya (determined): Let's go see!
[Show them approaching some sort of temple shrouded in mist, the walls are covered with inscriptions. Something watches them from the inside. Takuya notices as it runs past the window in a blur]
Takuya: Huh?
JP: Hey Takky, what is it?
Zoe: Did you see something?
Takuya: I'm not sure, let's keep moving. The mountain--huh!
[A fireball whizzes past them and explodes a short distance off to their side. They cry out in alarm...but no one is there.]
Takuya (angry): Who's there?!
[A strange digimon with a boar-like face steps into view on the top of the wall]
Baromon: I am Baromon. I cannot allow you to pass!
Takuya: I see! YOU'RE the one who scanned that mountain! [holds up his d-tector, and the others follow his example]
Baromon: [holds two fingers on his right hand up to his forehead where he has a third eye which begins to glow red. Extends arm out to his side, parallel to the ground as he speaks. The is a bright pink radiance all around him] Great spirits of the universe, hear me! Give me...your power! [Swings arm around him so his cape goes in front. He disappears, and a cluster of glowing spheres head straight for the group]
All 6 Digidestined: Execute! Spirit Evolution!
Agunimon: Rahh! Hah! Hah! Agunimon!
Beetlemon: Rarrr--uh! Beetlemon!
Kazemon: Hyaaah--mm! Kazemon!
Kumamon: Hah, uup! Ha ha! Kumamon! [makes a peace sign]
Lowemon: Hah--uhh! Lowemon!
Lobomon: Hyuh! Huh! Huh! Lobomon!
[Baromon looks surprised as they approach]
Baromon: Don't attack. I have no intention of fighting the 10 Legendary Warriors.
[All 6 emit gasps of in shock, shown in the order: Agunimon, Beetlemon, Kazemon, Kumamon, Lowemon, and Lobomon]
Baromon: I know you are protectors of the peace! But all of you must hear what I have to say! [slaps both hands on forehead, third eye glows] I have a prophecy!
[All shield eyes from a powerful bright light]
Baromon: It concerns the rebirth of an ancient evil--Lucemon!
[Shows core of digital world, where Lucemon is seated in a cramped fashion, head bowed on his knees, arms wrapped around his legs. The wings on his head go straight, and he looks up slowly, smiling a small evil smile. All show shock in the same order and fall backwards, de-digivolving]
Bokomon: [runs, Patamon and Neemon follow] Takuya! Speak to me!
Neemon: Are they all right?
Bokomon: They LOOK all right. Thank goodness!
Takuya (angry): [grunts] So Lucemon is coming back, huh?!
Bokomon: That's...not good!
Takuya (still angry): You got it wrong, pal! Lucemon was defeated a long time ago!
Baromon: I will show you! The truth is about to happen!
[Red light shines through cracks along the wall, and it implodes, sending smoke and dust everywhere.]
Takuya: Ok...
Baromon: Look! THIS is where the Holy Mountains once proudly stood! Our great protectors have fallen to the EVIL that struggles to return. Listen. The Digital World is crying out for your help. [He opens a doorway. Steps lead down to a landing (much like a small balcony). All is a vertical tunnel, for the most part dark] Follow ME.
Takuya: Follow you WHERE?
Baromon: You see before you the Digital World's Tunnel of History.
Takuya: Tunnel of...history?
[Shows large number of thick floating disks that rotate in their place, glowing in the dark. Their sides are a greenish blue, and their insides are yellow.]
Baromon: Yes. This place holds the entire recorded history of our world.
[The small balcony they are standing on detaches from the steps, and decends like an elevator. They are all in awe.]
Neemon: Ooo...
Baromon: At the start, our world began from 10 spirits, and 10 different types of data. There are human and beast type spirits.
Bokomon (impatiently): Yes, yes, yes! That much we know!
Baromon: There is more...[they descend into on of the disks, and are able to see visions for everything Baromon speaks about] The 10 Ancient Legendary Spirits banded together to defeat Lucemon and then sealed him in a world of nothingness: [dramatically] The Dark Area.
[They descend out of the disk]
Bokomon: All of us have heard this history lesson before!
Baromon: Be quiet and listen! Behold and learn...Lucemon's demise led to this. [points to another disk where a vision of strange digimon (looking like the Ancient Digimon) are shown. They gasp in amazement.] The warriors freed the spirits...all 10 were released in our world. The spirits needed to be protected, so they were entrusted to the 3 Celestial Digimon who had chosen to rule.
Others: Huh? Oh...[watching]
Baromon: Five were given over to Cherubimon [Show Cherubimon (vaccine) with the symbols of the Spirits he had been entrusted with, including Darkness], two were placed in the care of Seraphimon [Show Seraphimon with the symbols for Light on the left and Wind on the right], and the other three to Ophanimon [Show her with symbols of Thunder on the left, Ice on the right, and Fire at her feet]. And the warriors fell to sleep. And it was WONDERFUL. You see, the next period of time was characterized by a long and lasting peace...that existed throughout the entire digital world, but Lucemon was waiting, biding his time, knowing the day would come when he would be revived...
[Kids gasp as the view the disk provides zooms into the core of the Digital World again]
Baromon: Waiting patiently for his chance...[Lucemon again looks up and smiles evily. The others gasp] Then one day, an opportunity arose. He projected his aura into one of the Celestial Digimon. Cherubimon was a victim of evil. [Shows vision of the change occuring, as Cherubimon cries out] His heart was drowned in darkness. After that, Lucemon used Cherubimon to collect the Digital World's data for him. The result is the ravished world you see before you. Eaten away by the treachery of Lucemon. When you vanquished Cherubimon, the massive amount of data he gathered was released--and absorbed by Lucemon.
Kouichi: Hey wait! So Cherubimon didn't really know anything!
Koji: It was Lucemon! But he acted through Cherubimon!
Baromon: [sighs and briefly closes eyes] All of this brings us to the present. Bear witness to the deplorable condition of the Digital World! [They are shown flashes of different locations, all in ruin. The mountain is shown being absorbed by the silhouettes of someone.]
Takuya: Who is THAT?
Tommy (gasps): Whoa!
Koji (angry): [as JP gasps] They're sucking up the fractal code!
Zoe: [as Patamon gasps] The mountains! Are disappearing!
[Shows a close up of each silhouette]
Takuya (angry): All right, so tell us! Who are they?!
Baromon: I don't know. [his eyes narrow] I'd say...now that Cherubimon is gone, these are the other underlings that have been sent to collect the Digital World's data. Now you understand what is happening. Lucemon will use any means to achieve his goal. If they succeed, Lucemon will be revived!! That is...my prophecy.
Takuya (alarmed): Y'mean---?
Baromon: The entire Digital World will be--destroyed.
Takuya: [screen zooms in to his eye] The end? It can't be!
[Vision is shown of the Digital World exploding in a bright light, all cry out and shield faces in this order: Takuya, Zoe, Tommy, Bokomon, Neemon, Koji, Kouichi, and Patamon. They return to the staircase. All are sprawled on the ground except for Baromon, recovering. The doorway opens, and a shaft of light pours down.]
Baromon: We thank you humans. You tried valiantly to help, but now you must return to YOUR world. Go now--before it's too late!
Takuya: [moans a bit, standing straight] We are NOT leaving!
Baromon: What did you say?
Takuya: Ophanimon and Seraphimon helped us battle to save the Digital World but now it's up to US! We haven't come THIS far and given THIS much to let it all go! WE will save this world!
Baromon: But--how will you do it?
JP: [stands] Easy! We all possess the power of the spirits of the 10 Legendary Warriors.
Zoe: [stands] Lucemon will never have the chance to destroy this world while we're here! [Tommy stands, and then Kouichi and Koji stand at the same time]
Baromon: Impossible! The prophecy is right! Lucemon WILL BE REVIVED!
Tommy: If he is, we'll stop him!
Takuya: We may look like a bunch of kids to you, but WE can HANDLE this!
Others: Mmmhmm!
Baromon (in wonder): Ahh...
Takuya: If we don't take care of this, who else WILL? YOU think--we're just humans. But we are digimon! And proud of it!
Baromon: [eyes narrow] Humph! Your pride--won't help here. The prophecy WILL come to pass.
All: [gasp in shock as there is quaking and a bright light of which Baromon is not responsible for]
Takuya: [looks over shoulder. Data is being collected by the two mysterious beings, yet only their silhouettes can be seen] Them again!
Baromon: Hurry! We must get outside!
[They don't make it in time. Shows walls collapsing. All are burried under rubble. Takuya is the first to climb out. The two figures laugh at them and strut their way through the smoke. Now they can be seen clearly.]
Takuya (angrily): Hey! Knock it off! Just who are you two?!
Dynasmon (proudly): I am Dynasmon, the Passionate Warrior!
Crusadermon (blows off): And I am Crusadermon, the indifferent warrior.
Both: We are here for Lord Lucemon's justice!
Dynasmon: [slams down on the ground] We have come to fulfill Lucemon's destiny as his emissaries of evil!
Crusadermon: [spins] We are supporters of his right to become this world's supreme ruler. [explosion is heard taking place behind her] We serve Lord Lucemon by collecting fractal code.
Both: And we are known to all as the Royal Knights!
Takuya: The Royal KNIGHTS?
Baromon: Why? WHY would the Royal Knights who have always been known as defenders of right align themselves with LUCEMON?
Crusadermon: [sniffs a glowing rose] This world is...disordered.
Dynasmon: And the only one who can FIX it--is Lord Lucemon. [Both pound their claws into the ground, preparing to absorb data] Ask, and we shall complete it!
Takuya: [noise of surprise, then is angry] STOP! Stop it NOW!
[He runs in slow motion toward the Royal Knights. The others join and hold up their d-tectors as Baromon makes sound of disbelief.]
Takuya and Koji: Execute, NOW! Fusion Evolution!
Zoe, Tommy, JP, Kouichi: Execute! Spirit Evolution!
Aldamon: Raaa--ha! Aldamon!
Beowolfmon: Hua! Hua! Ahhr. Beowolfmon!
Beetlemon: Raaaaa! Eh! Beetlemon!
Kazemon: Haaah--mm! Kazemon!
Kumamon: Haaa--uup! Ha ha! Kumamon! [peace sign]
Lowemon: Huh! Huh! Lowemon!
[more ground disappears, cliff walls collapse in clouds of smoke and dust]
Dynasmon: So. It's YOU.
Crusadermon: The humans have evolved into the 10 Legendary Warriors.
Aldamon: You can't keep up your destructive ways!
Beowolfmon: The Digital World belongs to everyone!
Kumemon: You have no right to wreck it!
Kazemon: Don't you understand what will happen here if Lucemon is revived?
[The Royal Knights go in a back-to-back stance]
Dynasmon: For now there is only chaos. Lucemon will restore order!
Crusadermon: Putting things into their natural order is necessary, and beautiful...!
Both: Lord Lucemon will be the Supreme Salvation for this world!
Beetlemon: Not quite! [Dives between them, seperating them from eachother. Aldamon lets out angry yell and attacks Dynasmon, joined by Beowolfmon.]
Dynasmon: [Blocks both attacks at the same time, unphased] Crusadermon, proceed with the data collection while I handle these nuisances!
Lowemon: [Goes at her with his pronged spear]
Kazemon: [prepares to attack]
Kumemon: [also ready to attack] Let's do it!
Crusadermon: Pretty nice...[grasps Lowemon's spear keeping him stuck in place, while using it to block all of Kazemon's attack while she continues rotating helplessly]...but NOT effective...
Beetlemon: Thunderfist!!
Crusadermon: [does a quick flip over him, completely avoiding his attack] And now I will take my leave of you, so I can gather more data. I bid you adieu [flings out a swarm of floating dark pink hearts] with ALL my heart!
[All 4 cry out as this silent attack does its work]
Lowemon: Oh no you don't!! Shadow Meteor!
Kumemon: Blizzard Blaster!
Kazemon: Hurricane--Wind!
Beetlemon: Thunderfist!
[All 4 attacks combine into one rope that spirals toward her]
Dynasmon: I warn you...do NOT interfere!
[He casts aside Aldamon and Beowolfmon effortlessly, they are shocked by his strength. He turns, and outstretches his arms. Out of his right palm comes a strong beam of red light. Out of his left, a pale blue.]
Dynasmon: DNA Disintegrator! [the beams loosely spiral around each other, than meet where the 4 are, causing a grand explosion. They cry out. Their attack is rendered useless, Crusadermon is unharmed.]
Dynasmon: [palms smoking] Yes. Strength is justice! [laughs]
Aldamon: Solar Wind Destroyer!
Beowolfmon: Frozen Hunter!
Dynasmon: [laughs] You think to challenge me with such weak attacks?! Dragon Thrower!
[He crosses his arms and fires at them, looking like infinite darts of blue and red light. They are powerful enough to put visible holes in Aldamon and Beowolfmon. They yell as they are hit. Bokomon, Neemon, and Patamon look on with eyes as big as saucers, and from the sound of it, are quite frightened. They watch the two fall, Dynasmon barely having to lift a finger.]
Bokomon (insane): Oh dear! OH dear!! Patamon! [grabs Patamon and proceeds to try to stuff him, face first, into his waistband.] It's time for you to come back home! [Patamon understandably makes sounds of protest and struggles to get free. Neemon looks on, his mouth forming an 'o'.] No need to wiggle my boy, it's for your own good!
Neemon: My good too! [laughs and stretches waistband out and slides in, rear first]
Bokomon: Get awaaaaaay! [gives Neemon a good kick and he goes flying, but is still in the waistband. So he gets yanked back and they all fall in a heap, clouds of dust go everywhere.]
[Shows Crusadermon digging her claws into the ground to get more data. Lowemon, Beetlemon, Kumemon, and Kazemon struggle to get out of the rubble. They gasp and make noises of alarm as, in the distance, a large part of the Digital World is absorbed.]
Lowemon: The forest!
Beetlemon: Oh no!
All four: Slide----Evolution!
[As they race toward her...]
JagerLowemon: JagerLowemon!
Zephyrmon: Zephyrmon!
Korikakumon: Korikakumon!
MetalKabuterimon: MetalKabuterimon!
[Crusadermon looks over her shoulder and sees the small stampede, but remains calm and indifferent]
JagerLowemon: Ebony Blast! Rahh!
Zephyrmon: Hurricane...Gale!
Korikakumon: Frozen Arrowheads!
MetalKabuterimon: Rollo Thunder!
[Crusadermon is not in the least bit worried]
Crusadermon: PLEASE. Ha! [breezes past all 4 attacks with ease and grace, laughing merrily at the pitifulness of it all and as though it were fun.] Spiral Masquerade! [it hits all of them, she skids to a stop right after them]
[They all cry out and collapse, and their data shows, except for JagerLowemon's.]
Crusadermon: Justice is BEAUTIFUL.
[Shows Dynasmon quietly waiting in the air. Koji and Takuya have their backs against a rock, hiding from view.]
Takuya: Those two are tougher than I thought!
Koji: We gotta find a better way of getting at 'em.
[both nod with determination and look at their d-tectors. The others are shown, sprawled on the rocks and no longer digimon]
JP: I feel like an egg--in egg salad!
Kouichi: I know. [JP moans] Let's give our spirits to Koji and Takuya.
[Koji and Takuya, a distance away, hold out their d-tectors, waiting. One after the other, they hold out their d-tectors, and after they speak, a beam of light shoots out, giving the spirts to the boys]
Zoe: The Wind into Flame!
Tommy: The Ice into Flame!
JP: The Thunder into Light!
Kouichi: The Darkness into Light!
[begins evolution, shown as split screen, with Koji on the left and Takuya on the right]
Koji and Takuya: Unity Execute! Unified Spirit Evolution! Ahhr!
EmperorGreymon: Uh! Rrh! Rrh! EmperorGreymon!
MangaGarurumon: Huh! Huh! MagnaGarurumon!
Baromon (surprised): Ah...the spirits of the Legendary Warriors!
Bokomon (greatly annoyed): Huh! Honestly! Why you sound so surprised, I have NO idea. [waddles over, dragging Patamon and Neemon in tow as they are all stuck in the same waistband] We did try to tell you more than once, MagnaGarurumon and EmperorGreymon are VERY tough. THEY are the greatest champions that defeated Cherubimon!
Baromon: I see...
Dynasmon (partially sarcastic and gleeful): Ooo! A new challenge! [cracks knuckles] This may require us to get serious!
Crusadermon: [sniffs glowing rose held in left hand] Dominating our enemies for Lucemon is TRULY a thing of beauty!
[EmperorGreymon and MagnaGarurmon exchange looks and nod, ready.]
EmperorGreymon and MagnaGarurumon: Mmm!
Baromon: They'll lose! I have predicted you cannot beat the Royal Knights!
[Zoe, JP, Kouichi, and Tommy line up in a row beind Baromon, with looks of determination and their right hands lifted to their hearts, holding their d-tectors. Then shows MagnaGarurumon rushing toward Crusadermon and EmperorGreymon rocketing toward Dynasmon.]
[EmperorGreymon wildly pummels Dynasmon, and then swings his sword around, stopping right in front of his face.]
Dynasmon: [arms out and leaning back] You missed.
EmperorGreymon: [as his sword glows right in front of Dynasmon's nose] Oh, did I?
Dynasmon: Mm?
EmperorGreymon: Dragonfire Crossbow!! [Direct hit]
Others: Ohh!
Baromon: Hmm...
[the others yell as Dynasmon hits the ground in a blaze of fire.]
MagnaGarurumon: [glides past Crusadermon, spins around and takes aim] Magna Missile!! [Crusadermon uses her shield to deflect, but they are coming in fast]
Others: [make sounds of admiration]
Tommy: They did it!!
Baromon: How...is this possible? Huh?
[Shows silhouettes of the Royal Knights wavering in the inferno. They stand tall and proud, and they are laughing]
Baromon: It--can't be!
[creepy music begins to play]
Dynasmon: Dragon Thrower!
Crusadermon: FIST of Athena!
EmperorGreymon: They're so fast!!
MagnaGarurumon: Unreal--!
[Baromon's eyes widen]
Dynasmon: [Wildly pummels EmperorGreymon, who obviously yells]
Crusadermon: Hel-LO! [Brings shield up in a hefty punch, knocking the wind out of MagnaGarurumon]
Baromon: I predicted this...
[The others don't pay any attention to this statement, all shout out encouragement. With a sound like fireworks going off, EmperorGreymon and MagnaGarurumon fall]
Tommy: Oh MAN--!
Zoe: I can't believe it!
Kouichi: They got CLOBBERED.
JP: They lost?!
Tommy: No WAY!
Bokomon: EmperorGreymon--!
Zoe: And even MagnaGarurumon...
Kouichi: But HOW?
Baromon: Great spirits of the universe, give me power! [does same as earlier, only he stays where he is and does not disappear.] Meteor--Dance! [Fiery spheres head for the Royal Knights]
Dynasmon: Mmm? BEGONE! [lashes out at cluster, and in the direction of the others]
Crusadermon: Your ugliness is intolerable. [does the same] Yaa!!
[Huge surge heads straight for them all. They all cry out in fear and confusion, as they do not have their spirits and are defenseless.]
Tommy: What will we do?!
Baromon: Spirits, hear me! Give me the power to protect these brave humans! [his cape billows out to shield them. He gives one last long cry as he is deleted from the attack, all others are covered with a film, and most unconscious. Music ends]
Bokomon: [coughs from dust] He saved us! Everyone all right? Oh!
[Data is shown around JP, Zoe, and Tommy, but, oddly, not Kouichi.]
Bokomon: Those brutes knocked the fractal code out of them!
Patamon: But how?
Neemon: Yeah, if they're humans, how come their data is showing?! [Kouichi is shown struggling to get up, but the others are out cold.]
Crusadermon: Human data is exquisitely beautiful! I had NO idea.
Dynasmon: So. We can turn even HUMANS to data...!
Crusadermon: Allow me to scan it RIGHT out of them.
Dynasmon: As you wish...
MagnaGarurumon: [makes rasping noise, unable to get up]
EmperorGreymon (rasps): No--!
Kouichi (panicked): [looks behind him] Guys! Wake up!
Crusadermon: OH. Not YOU again!
[EmperorGreymon and MagnaGarurumon weakly block their way]
MagnaGarurumon: It's not over yet!
EmperorGreymon: You've got to go through us!
Crusadermon: How brave and noble you are...
Dynasmon: I think we ALREADY went through you.
Crusadermon: Dynasmon?
Dynasmon: Breath of Wyvern!! Hoo--ah!
Crusadermon (alarmed): No! Dynasmon! STOP!
Dynasmon (angry): Mmmmm!!
[All watch in wonder as his attack take the form of a HUGE likeness of himself (powder blue in color, with red eyes) that opens its mouth wide with a growl and falls upon them, sounding like a real beast. An immense explosion follows, blowing the entire section into space, the digidestined included. All scream.]
Crusadermon (panicked): Dynasmon!! What are you doing?! Don't you realize--everything will disappear?! EVERYTHING!! [last part echoes a bit]
Lucemon: Hurry, my Royal Knights...The Data! Bring me the data!! All of it!! NOW. [screen zooms in to show the core, he is barely seen through the pink haze.]
Rika: Man, our heroes' fate is pretty much up in the air. Find out where they'll land on the next Digimon: Digital Monsters...
