Digital Mistakes

This page is basically an addition to the older Digital Bloopers and Fun Facts page.

Has anyone, but me noticed the mass of mistakes that can be found on Digimon? I surely did, so a while back I started a discussion at Ryux Network forums about it. Well to say, I added first my own, and since I live in Sweden I could focus on three different parts, the Japanese Original, the English Dub and the Swedish Dub that in some places differs from the English ones.

I didn't think I would get that many replies, but it turns out there has been loads. Now, I know JA posted some of them already, but they are listed here as well. If you want to add something to Digital Mistakes, then you should use this link: http://www.ryuxforums.net/index.php?topic=1627.0.

The mistakes posted by others then me will have their forum names written. I am not going to take the honour for what others have seen.

The three sections are named Nippon Original, English Quoting, Sverige Dub on Dub and Others. Nippon is Japanese for Japan and Sverige is how we say and spell Sweden.

Nippon Original

Adventures

When Mimi sings, in episode 6 everyone cringes at her voice. However as she sings later in episode 25 it is her beautiful voice that is needed to wake up Shogungekomon. [posted by Meowy]

Note: In the original, when Mimi sings for the first time the whole episode starts with a game. You sing a song, and at the word it ends at, you have to come up with a new song. Why everyone looked at Mimi so strangely is because she knew a song that no one else knew about.

(Manga) Instead of doing armour evolution, Gatomon evolves into Nefertimon with regular evolution. [posted by davis]

Tamers

Episode 43. After the kids have baked bread, and are eating it, Guilmon eats on his Guilmon bread. However, for being a Digimon with appetite, and as his bread seemed to last for one long conversation, what did they bake it of? Surely it would have been eaten much sooner then that.

Frontier

Episode 47: When Ophanimon and Cherubimon's Digieggs hatch we see the image of their in training forms Nyaramon and Chocomon. However, as they evolve Chocomon becomes Salamon and Nyaramon becomes Lopmon. The evolution line however states that Nyaramon evolves into Salamon and Chocomon to Lopmon. To see this, watch that clips slowly. Nyaramon has a tail while Chocomon has three small horns on his forehead.

Movies

In Digimon the Movie, at the subway, there are two clocks that are different from each other by a few minutes. [posted by Kurisu]

During Diaboromon Strikes back, Stingmon and ExVeemon can DNA evolve. However, as that Movie takes place after 02, how can they when the ability was lost. Because when Gatomon received her tail-ring Gennai said that he needed the ring to enable DNA evolution. [posted by Lord Patamon]

In the third Movie, as the intro song starts, we see the 02 gang play volleyball. There is a quick shot of Davis watching a crab and then back to the volleyball. However, at this, first Veemon plays Volleyball, then Demiveemon watches the crab with Davis, and then plays volleyball again as Veemon.

English Quoting

Adventures

In the US opening theme they use the same clips as the opening theme in Japan. However, as they cut it they mixed up a lot of the clips. They cut Tokomon's evolution to Patamon, right after Bukamon evolves to Gomamon Birdramon attacks. The original Opening theme was 1:36 minutes long where as the US Dub is 1minute long. 36 seconds less. [Posted by Lord Patamon]

In one of the Etemon episodes, Tai says something in Sora's voice. [posted by Rocketboy]

In the last episode of Adventures Tai and Agumon sits by the lake talking about that this was the spot where Agumon used his Pepper breath for the very first time, however it appeared long before this!

Episode 9. When Agumon evolves, his voice is different. And when Birdramon attacks normally her wings spread when doing so, but this time they are tucked in. [posted by Yagami]

In the first episode Davis knows about the Armour Digivolution without any explanation, as we know Yolei and Cody got some directions in the following after. This is a change from the Japanese in which Veemon, as they run from Monochromon, explains about the Digivolution.

In 'Davis Cries Wolfman', while Davis and TK plays basketball they have the same colour on their shirts. However, they are on two different teams. [posted by Yagami]

When Andromon hits Pegasusmon and he dedigievolve back to Patamon, Patamon says “I'll have two cheeseburgers and a large fries” yet once more this is a change from the original lines saying “I knew the Ultimate was too strong. [posted by Lord Patamon]

Same episode as above, as TK and Davis flip coins TK examines it and says that he tricked Matt with a coin like that to win Matt's old guitar. However in the Spanish dub (which uses the original lines) it says “This is a trick coin. They are on sale in Kadoetsu.” [posted by Lord Patamon]

In the First episode, TK says that he is in 7th grade, but the sign says 5th. [posted by davis]

In the English Dub there are 3 years between between Adventures and 02. In the Original 4 years difference. [posted by Haro]

Sverige Dub on Dub

Short about the Swedish dub.

Sweden only showed two of the four series of Digimon, whether it was lack of interest or too few who watched it, who knows? Probably both since this is a country of 9million inhabitants and very few who really watch anime. Of all series that have reached here it's probably most Sailor Moon and Pokémon who has survived the dubbing process. However, as they dubbed it they changed even some parts of the English Dub, which I surely got to know about later.

And one more thing to add, this dub can get extremely annoying from time to time. Because the dub of dub sometimes make me want to throw out the television when I watch it. *shivers*

In the last episode of 02, when TK talks about the future we see Davis with his noodle cart, right? However, for some reason, the Swedish dub rewrote this so it says that Davis has a hot dog stand all over the world.

In episode 35, Cody takes a stand, the Chosen Children talk about defending the last destiny Stone. However, the very last one appears on the episode after that. I have no idea if this was just a miss match or if this mistake appears in the US Dub as well, but it sure is annoying. Actually they mention this in three episodes before something really happens.

Thinking about that sign at TK's classroom, it is annoying. 7th grade here means that TK, Kari and Davis would all be thirteen. Tai and the others around 16. But that is way older then they seem, right?

The voice actors are very much the same. Ken and Matt's voice is the same, with a small change of accent. Davis and Joe shares voice as well. Aramdillomon's voice appears around 50 per cent of the show. And almost all the enemy Digimon they meet have the same voice. Really, living here the only anime I can think of when they actually changed voice actors from the usual is beyblade. As for the rest, Kari's voice appears in loads of other shows, and Davis' voice pops up in almost every single anime. * sigh *

In the episode where they go looking for th Digimon emperors HQ, after Hawkmon is revived he says he hasn't felt this good in years, however his life hasn't existed in years. (perhaps this appears in the US dub as well, I don't know yet.

Others

In the Spanish Dub, Kari and Gatomon shares voices. Davis, Angemon, Magnaangemon and Pegasusmon shares voice. Patamon and Mimi have the same voices, both season 1 and 2. Yet Patamon did not sound girlish. Also ken and Piedmon shares voice. The list goes on... [posted by Lord Patamon]
