Runaway Locomon
Summary
by Rachel
Takato and the others are planning a surprise birthday party for Rika, so
they ask her mother to take her to the museum. Rika receives a phone call from
Takato and he revelas her surprise. She doesn’t like surprises, so she
yells at him. She’s standing on the train platform waiting for her train
and an extremely fast train whizzes by.
All over town, reports of this train are on the TVs everywhere. Takato and Guilmon
run up to the platform just as the train speeds by. Guimon digivolves to Growlmon
and Takato uses his D-power to see that it’s a train called Locomon. Locomon,
an ultimate digimon, overpowers Growlmon and continues on his track. Before Locomon
can recover his full speed, Takato leaps on the train. He looks at the controls.
Meanwhile, Rika and Renamon jump off a bridge to get inside of Locomon. They
find Takato. He says that he though that this Modify card might do it, but Guilmon
wasn’t with him. Rika tries. Digi-Modify! Shellmon Hydro Blasters Activate.
Renamon says that it’s too hot for that amount of water. They go back into
one of the passenger cars.
Meanwhile, Henry meets up with Kazu and Kenta carrying birthday presents for
Rika. they notice that Henry is with Lopmon and that Henry left Terriermon with
Suzie. Guardromon uses a nearby unattended vehicle to try and catch up with Locomon.
Yamaki is in the train control room talking with some members. He realizes that
by “looping around the city at such a drastic rate of speed, he created
a digital gate between our world and the Digi-World. He calls Takato to say that
they are re-routing Locomon to go into the digital gate he’s created. All
you have to do is get out of there before that happens.
Rika doesn’t want his stupid plan because she can take care of it herself.
She goes into the control room with a huge wrench in her hands intending to smash
Locomon’s controls. Green tentacles shot out of the stove. We see Rika
coming out of the control room with a blank look on her face with the wrench
still in her hands.
Then, in her mind, she sings a song to her father. Renamon and Takato can hear
it.
Promise that you’ll stay for the sunset
And when the moon shines through the darkness
We can find the path that leads us home
And on the way you’ll maybe, sing me a song
Promise that you always will be there.
Hold my hand if ever I’m real scared.
Help me stand up tall if I fall down
Make me laugh away on my bluest days
Mow could you promise you always will be there
Why’d you have to go away somewhere
Every morning into every night
Do you watch over me like the sun in the sky?
Am I all alone? Or standing in your light?
I wish that I could, maybe, sing you a song tonight...
You promised me we’d stay for the sunset.
Then, she attacks. She keeps on repeating the same thing: Do not interfere;
I want to sing. Just like Locomon always says: I wanna run. I wanna keep on
runnin’. Renamon flies out of the train and into Guardromon’s vehicle.
Rika chases Takato on the roof.
Guilmon appears and sees green tentacles attached to Rika. He destroyes them.
Henry uses his D-power to see that it’s a parasite digimon called Parasimon.
Rika snaps out of it but almost falls off Locomon. Parasimon is also controlling
Locomon so he can digivolve to GrandLocomon, a mega digimon. As Henry says, “ Yeah,
Mega bad. Next stop: The Digital World. And Takato and Rika have a one-way
ticket.”
Suddenly, hundreds of Parasimon appear. The children bio-merge, but even with
Justimon’s help, they can’t defeat them. Takato’s perseverance
allows Galantmon to digivolve to Gallantmon Crimson Mode. He seals up the digital
gate and the Parasimon disappear. Locomon goes through the gate just before
it closes.
At Rika’s house, the surprise is going on. Jeri asks Rika to just act
that way anyway. Rika sits still. Suzie gives a concert and Kazu asks Rika
to sing. Ryo doubts it and Rika leaves the table. Rumiko sings in her place.
Takato feels that something is wrong and finds Renamon. Rika sings the last
line of her song in her mind as she watches the sunset.
